SMART Board Software includes the SMART Board driver and SMART
Notebook. The SMART Board driver activates the SMART Board so that
you can use your finger as a mouse or annotate over applications in
electronic ink. SMART Notebook captures and saves notes written on
the SMART Board.
SMART Board Software is compatible with all major operating
systems. Use the table below to find out about the specific features
available for your platform. SMART Board Software is also available
in several languages, including English, French, Spanish, German and

available to Macintosh users. These features are marked as Windows

Touch
Control
The SMART Board driver communicates with the Board so you can use
your finger as a mouse on the Board's touch-sensitive surface. You
can control applications, surf the Web and move objects just by
pressing on the Board.
Write on
the Board
The SMART Board driver communicates with the Board so you can write
over top of any application in electronic ink (this does not affect
or harm the application itself). This is useful for highlighting
important information while meeting, teaching, training or
presenting. For example, you may want draw your group's attention to
a particular number in a spreadsheet. Doing so is simple – you
just pick up a pen and circle the number.
SMART
Notebook
SMART Notebook lets you save, print and e-mail your
notes, diagrams and ideas.

Side Sorter
The Side Sorter shows thumbnail images of each whiteboard page.
With unlimited whiteboard space, this is useful for sorting through
and organizing your whiteboard notes.
Drag and Drop (Windows only)
Move objects created in the whiteboard between whiteboard pages, or
drag and drop them into other applications.
Screen Capture Tool
SMART Notebook's Screen Capture tool is a great way to capture
images and bring them into SMART Notebook. You can capture an entire
screen, a window or a custom rectangular area of the screen. Once
captured, the image is automatically pasted to a whiteboard page in
Notebook, or it can be pasted into another application, such as
e-mail.

Printing Notebook Files
Print up to 12 Notebook pages on one page.
Save as JPEG
Save each whiteboard page as a separate JPEG file.

On-Screen
Keyboard
The on-screen keyboard is used for entering text, numbers and
symbols into any other computer application. For example, you can
enter a Web site address into a browser.
SMART
Aware
SMART Aware provides seamless integration between the SMART Board
and third-party software applications. When any tool is picked up
from the SMART Pen Tray, SMART Aware communicates with that
third-party software so you can use that tool as part of your
application. For example, when you write over Microsoft PowerPoint,
you can choose to save your notes directly into the PowerPoint file.

Handwriting
Recognition
SMART Board Software can recognize your handwriting or printing
and convert it to text. There is no need to train the software.
Handwriting recognition is available through both SMART Notebook and
the on-screen keyboard.
Recognize Handwriting in SMART Notebook
All handwritten notes can be converted to text by
clicking or pressing the A button in the top right
hand-corner. You can convert single words or sentences or an entire
whiteboard page of handwritten notes.

Recognize Handwriting in the
On-Screen Keyboard
The on-screen keyboard provides a space for
handwriting. Once converted, the text can be entered into any
application. For example, you can enter handwriting into a Microsoft
Word and Excel document. Corrections are quick and easy to make
using the backspace, space and enter commands.

Bulb
Saver
To extend the life of your projector's bulb, you can set the
projector to turn off when the Board is left unused for a set period
of time. All you need to do to reactivate the Board is touch its
surface or press any key on the keyboard. When reactivated, the
Board will return to the same point you were at before the Bulb
Saver was activated.
